‘Lonely Winter Nights…’
Cold to toes, Icy bones,
Yearning for a warm embrace,
Ten fingers to fill the gap in
My fingers, Words to dissipate
The silence hung in the air,
Warm coffee shared together
Sips taken between laughter,
Someone to sit with and watch
As snowy wind surmounts
The world with its frozen fingers,
Every winter night dawns new
With the old desire burning
To end this solitary confinement,
And the pavements heaped
With cold white promise of
Another lonely winter night.
